Unit Descriptor

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work safely at heights in the resources and infrastructure industries.

It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work outcomes.

Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with relevant body before applying the unit.

Note: The terms Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Work Health and Safety (WHS) are equivalent and generally either can be used in the workplace. In jurisdictions where the National Model WHS Legislation has not been implemented RTOs are advised to contextualise the unit of competency by referring to the existing State/Territory OHS legislative requirements.

This unit requires a person providing to:

  • Identify work requirements
  • Identify work procedures and instruction
  • Access and install equipment
  • Perform work at heights
  • Clean up work area

Pre-requisites and Licensing / Regulatory Information

There are no pre-requisites for the units of competency in this skill set.

However, students must be able to complete all training and assessment materials in accordance with the instructions and assessment requirements for that instrument. In particular, learners must have sufficient English language to complete the assessment without the use of an interpreter, assistant or any reference materials. Unless specified in learning materials.

Cost: $300

NB: Programs delivered as a skill set package comprise multiple units. While booked and paid for as a package, the units are delivered sequentially (one after another) and are not blended together, this allows a student to exit upon completion of any or all units in the package. Where a student withdraws before completion of all units, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for the completed units only. Please note, there are no refunds or discounts offered for students who do not complete the entire skill set package and we strongly encourage students to complete all units within the skillset to maximise their learning opportunity.
